1st Congress of Health Economics
Dear Members of the Health Sector,
The Health Economics & Policy Association (SEPD) was established on 25 September 2009 for “contributing to the development of theoretical and practical capacity in the field of health economics and policy.” It primarily operates through scientific meetings and publications within the frame of its target to bring together persons and organizations working on health economics and policy, to cooperate with national and international organizations, direct the field of health economics and policy, and lead both the public and private sectors by research, meetings and training. In this context, it carried out its first meeting in Ankara with the “Symposium on Payment Methods in Health Services” dated 17-18 February 2011. Payment methods in health services were discussed by Turkish and international scientists, who have important positions as regards their fields in the literature, and additionally, payment methods for hospitals, drugs, medical materials and devices were addressed in panels that were formed with the participation of all parties.
At the Health Economics & Policy Association, we aim to contribute to the development of the theory and applications of the health economics discipline in Turkey by organizing a “Health Economics Congress” biannually, beginning with the last quarter of 2012.
I would like to inform you that we expect you to participate in and contribute to the congress, dear sector members, as we are certain that you share our excitement in this common goal. As preparations for the congress proceed, we will provide information on the particulars through our website and via other means of communication.
